Bjork
I finally got around to listening to Bjork, and my word is she absolutely divine. If mitski were as a human pouring her emotions into her songs, Bjork is like a deity writing what she observes in humans.
I'd like to thank my friend for recommending me to this artist, although unintentionally. It was still a journey and I don't think I'd have gone into it otherwise.
Her vocals are just admirably versatile, it exercises all kinds of textures and you can never get bored of it. One moment its whispery, the other its operatic, and then it gets very raspy, next you hear her screaming. Everything is just out of what you'd expect.
The way she jumps between various styles in just one album adds to that versatility, plus that makes it harder to choose a favourite song because each has its own charm. At least that's what I could say for the first two albums. The ones after seem more consistent, but really I think I've yet to listen to even more of her albums.
So far Vespertine really caught my attention. It's just magical, if I could describe a visualization it would be like being brought to a wonderland of jewel ornamented gates and hanging gems from vines of tropical trees, with maidens endowed in the same vividly coloured jewelleries dancing and greeting you on arrival, though it could just be me coming up with the most absurd claims. I should have a re-listen some time.
