Below The House

Planning For Burial, funny name for a band. Planning for burial, whose burial are you planning? Why even plan it out in the first place? It's edgy but in a way humorous.

The name was what caught my attention at first after appearing on my explore page. I took a listen because I didn't know what else to enjoy at the time. And I can gladly say that I did not regret spending my time on it.

I should remind myself that as much as upbeat songs feel like they are mocking me, I really should stop listening to depressing stuff as well - enhancing misery will not bring me anywhere, as much as they provide some sort of sympathy, at least the illusion of it, truly all they are is nothing but self-gratifying.

Then again, listening to this album in the backseat of a car ride late at night trying to hold back tears just makes for an absolutely immaculate atmosphere. The album itself, at least from what i could make out of their lyrics, can be summarized as yearning for what you have to accept is dead, and being dead to what you once yearned for.

As sad as that sounds, I think it's a wonderful way to simplify all forms of moving on. The one you seek is no longer there, and you are no longer the person who could enjoy what you sought as you once did.

The harmonies at least from what I can hear without perfect pitch, runs on a repetitive progression with not too complex harmonies, but the simplicity is very fitting, at least it makes for an easy listening experience and quick emotional outcome, though I think the slow build-up somewhat balances it out.

All in all its an okay album, it's boring when you want something quick and hard-hitting, but when you listen closely it has an ethereal charm, but again it's just too depressing.
